> A new GI/EO job opportunity for an EO Specialist is available at the JNCC..
>
> An earth observation specialist is needed to help JNCC deploy habitat mapping methods as part of ecosystem service mapping work, aiding countries within the UK, UK Overseas Territories and other international countries.  The post will also help develop a range of products that detect change in the condition or management of habitats and to provide biophysical parameters for species modelling.  The post will work primarily on terrestrial and freshwater environments, although some work may involve the marine environment..  The role will cover working with JNCC’s core stakeholders, Defra, the devolved administrations and their nature/environmental delivery bodies, and will also encompass income work for others.
>
> The post will be part of the Ecosystems Analysis Team which brings together three elements:
> ·         An earth observation data processing and analytical capability which is migrating from an initial focus in spatial mapping of habitats to detecting change within spatial frameworks of habitats.
> ·         A set of long term partnerships with bodies undertaking species surveillance through networks of volunteers
> ·         An analysis and modelling capability with a maturing set of rapidly deployable models. The initial focus has been on multi species distribution modelling to predict outcomes taking into account land use and climate.
